Dr. Gladys K. Mwiti
CHAIRPERSON
Dr. Gladys Mwiti is the chairperson of CUK Council since August 2013. She is also the founder and CEO of Oasis Africa a pan African Psycho-Social Community Mental Health Organization in the Republic of Kenya. She is an accomplished Clinical Psychologist with revered success stories in mental health, organizational empowerment and community based sectors. She has an attractive consultancy track record with some of her clients including USAID/ USA, Ford Foundation Nairobi, Lausanne Consultation, UN (ILO) IPEC in Geneva, Government of Netherlands and Oxford Center for Mission Studies in UK, Tear Fund (UK), and Ireland for a Psychosocial Project in Sierra Leone among other consultancies. Dr. Mwiti I also affiliated to various professional bodies including being the Chairperson of the Kenya Psychological Association, trustee Kenya Methodist University, member of the University of Nairobi/ Kenyatta Hospital Ethics and Research Committee among others The Kaaga Girl’s High School alumnus in Meru holds a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Clinical Psychology of the Graduate School, Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, CA, and a second Master Degree in in Christian Leadership from the same institution. She also holds a first Master Degree in Counseling Psychology of the United States International University, Kenya, an advanced Diploma in Science Education of Kenyatta University and a Higher Diploma in Education of the Alliance Girl’s High School, Kenya.
Eng. Runji Ngware
Council Member
Eng. Runji is a Council Member of The Co-operative University of Kenya since 2013. He holds a Master of Science degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering both of the University of Nairobi. He is a registered and qualified Engineer with the Engineering Registration Board, registered Consulting Engineer and a member of the Institute of Engineers of Kenya where he once was a Chairman and Hon. Secretary. He has over 30 years’ experience in planning, design, supervision and implementation of multidisciplinary projects in transport, infrastructure, project management, economic studies of road works, buildings and general social economic studies among others. Over the years, Eng. Runji has immense and relevant experience in transport sector, urban development, infrastructure works, water resources engineering and general consultancy. He is a renowned consultant undertaking such consultancies in Kenya and Tanzania and the Managing Director of M/S Runji & Partners, Consulting Engineers Limited.
Mr. George Ototo
Council Member
Mr. George Ototo holds a Master Degree in Business Administration, Finance option of the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics and Economics. He is also a Certified Public Accountant CPA (K). Since 2003, the meticulous George has served and risen through the ranks at KUSCCO Limited from being an accountant to the Managing Director in the same organization. He has served as a Council member of the former Co-operative University College of Kenya since august 2013 hitherto. He has served as a delegate in an array of International Organizations including the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU), International Co-operative Alliance (ICA) and Africa Rural and Agricultural Credit Association (AFRACA). George has a wealth of expertise and experience in consultancy having among others consulted with Deloitte and Touché.
Mr. Malonza Macloud
Council Member
Mr. Malonza holds a Master Degree in Business Administration of Moi University, a Bachelor of Arts degree of Egerton University. The Council Member serving since august 2013, also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Information Technology and Management Services from Manchester University, UK and a Postgraduate Certificate in Strategic Management and Management Planning of Rhodes University, South Africa. Since 1994, Mr. Malonza has served from being a Management Analyst to Principal Management Consultant. He is a Board Member of the Co-operative Bank of Kenya and the Chairman of Harambee Sacco Society Limited.
Ms. Florence Muthoni Gichoni
Council Member
With a wealth of experience having served at different levels at both Kenyatta University and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and technology, Mrs. Florence Hegarty has served as a Council Member for the CUK and its precursor since August 2016. She holds a Master Degree in Rural Development of the University of Ireland, Galway, a Postgraduate Diploma in Peace and Conflict Studies, of Africa Nazarene University, a National Diploma in Development Skills of Kimmage Manor, Dublin, and a Diploma in in Business Management and Administration of Cambridge Tutorial College, England. Florence has further worked with a number of organizations serving in different capacities among them being the Kenya Ecumenical Church Loan Fund, National Council for Churches in Kenya and one world Centre Galway.
Ms. Salome Mwendar
Council Member
Ms. Salome Mbeyu Mwenda is a Council Member at The Co-operative University of Kenya, a position she has held since August 2013. She has over 25 years’ experience in Water, Environmental Sanitation and Hygiene with vast experience working with UNICEF in both regular and emergency programs at National and International levels. Ms. Mwendar is a renowned consultant in her area of expertise with her clients including UNICEF in a number of counties including Kenya, Somaliland and Puntland. She has worked both in Kenya, Liberia overseeing several UNICEF programs at different level. Her education background include master of arts degree of the University of Nairobi, Certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation, University of London, Wye College UK, Post Graduate Diploma in Town and Regional Planning , Technical University of Szczecin, Poland and a Bachelor Degree in Arts of the University Of Nairobi
Mr. Patrick Abachi
Mr. Patrick Abachi holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce of the Masinde Muliro University Science and Technology. He represents the treasurer in the council of the co-operative university of Kenya. Mr. Abachi is also a Certified Public Accountant and a member of Certified Public Accountants. He is currently pursuing a Master Degree in Finance at Kenyatta University. He has, since 1987 worked with the Government of Kenya in various Ministries in his area of specialization at different levels including the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Agriculture and Currently at the National Treasury where he is the Chief Accountant and the Acting Head of Public Sector Accounting Standards Board Secretariat.
Prof. Kamau Ngamau
Ag. Vice Chancellor
Prof. Kamau Ngamau, the Ag.Vice Chancellor at The Co-operative University of Kenya, was previously serving as the Deputy Principal Academic Affairs of the former CUCK. He is a Professor of Horticulture at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. He served in various capacities at JKUAT rising through the ranks from an Assistant Lecturer in 1993, to Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor and Professor in 2013. Administratively, Professor Ngamau has held the positions of Chair of Horticulture Department, Dean Faculty of Agriculture and Director Board of Postgraduate Studies at JKUAT among other responsibilities which he performed with distinction. He has numerous publications in internationally refereed journals, supervised many Undergraduate, Masters and PhD students successfully. He is recognized research scientist and consultant in Horticulture. He has further attended and presented seminar papers in various Local and International workshops and Conferences on cross cutting issues in Higher Education and in his area of expertise. Prof. Ngamau, an alumnus of Nairobi School, is a holder of Doctor of Philosophy in Horticultural Sciences of the University of Hanover, Germany, a Master of Science degree in Horticulture and a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture of the University of Nairobi, Kenya. He holds a second Master degree in Organizational Development from USIU, Kenya.
