To maintain ethical standards and assure quality in the Research Systems (defined as\u00a0Research, Science, Technology and Innovation-RSTI)<\/strong> by reviewing, recommending,\u00a0monitoring, recording, and adjudicating submitted research proposals and ongoing research by individuals or teams, as pertains to relevant ethical, legal, scientific, safety,\u00a0health, security and social issues specified in the STI Act of 2012,<\/li>
To maintain a database of Researchers <\/strong>by registering and maintaining a database of\u00a0Researchers in their institution and affiliated institutions as per provisions of the STI Act,\u00a0and submitting reports to NACOSTI on the same,<\/li>
To document the state of Research Systems within jurisdiction<\/strong>, by continuously\u00a0collecting and collating relevant information and data, and submitting a report of the\u00a0same to NACOSTI. In this regard, it may be noted that one of the \u201cNACOSTI Conditions of Research License\u201d is that the \u201cRelevant Institutional Scientific and Ethical Review\u00a0Committee (ISERC) shall monitor and evaluate the research periodically, and make a\u00a0report of its findings to the Commission for necessary action\u201d.<\/li>
To guide in the protection of IP Rights,<\/strong> and Technology adoption<\/strong> by liaising with the\u00a0Institutional Intellectual Property Management Office and Researchers to identify\u00a0potential intellectual assets, as well intellectual property rights that need protection and\u00a0commercialization based on Research findings\/outcomes. To facilitate implementation\u00a0of this requirement, the \u201cNACOSTI Conditions of Research License\u201d requires that;<\/li>
The Licensee\u00a0shall disclose to the Commission, the relevant Institutional\u00a0Scientific and Ethical Review Committee (ISERC), and the relevant national\u00a0agencies any inventions and discoveries that are of National strategic\u00a0importance, and further,<\/li>
The Commission shall have powers to acquire from any person the right in, or\u00a0to, any scientific innovation, invention or patent of strategic importance to\u00a0the country as per provisions of STI Act 2013 (Rev. 2014) Section 6(2)(c)<\/li>
To take disciplinary action or legal action or termination action on research\u00a0misconduct or the occurrence of adverse event<\/strong> by instituting appropriate action on\u00a0Research Team leaders of any research project or Researchers that have breached\u00a0approved protocols or regulations or laws or ethical standards, as well as action because\u00a0of adverse events or close out reports for studies.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
