Office Of The Vice Chancellor

WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE VICE-CHANCELLOR

Thank you for choosing The Co-operative University of Kenya (CUK) as your academic partner and for expressing your interest in studying with us. CUK is a public University established by the Government of Kenya under the Universities Act of 2012, and it was proudly awarded its Charter on Friday, October 7, 2016, by H.E. President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, the Fourth President of The Republic of Kenya.

As the Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer of CUK, I am honored to lead this great institution. In this capacity, I chair the University’s critical organs – including the Senate, which governs academic matters and the University Management Board, which oversees administrative and operational functions; and I also serve as the Secretary to the University Council, ensuring that our policies and strategic vision are effectively implemented. My leadership role extends across the divisions of Academic, Co-operative Development, Research and Innovation, as well as Finance, Planning, and Administration, ensuring the holistic growth and sustainability of the institution.

Our daring vision as a University of excellence in education, research, innovation, and cooperative training continues to spotlight the unprecedented future of higher education. We remain steadfast in sustaining our relevance as a transformative institution offering quality education while contributing to the cooperative movement and national development.

At CUK, research and innovation are not just part of our mission – they are at the heart of our work. We have deeply invested in developing proposals for research funding, advancing knowledge, and fostering partnerships that strengthen our impact both locally and globally. These efforts have positioned the University as a hub for creative ideas, policy contributions, and industry-focused solutions.

We take great pride in the strides we have made, thanks to the dedication of our learners, faculty, and administrative staff who have remained integral frontrunners in our collective successes. Our uncompromised reputation for excellence is built on the extraordinary service and commitment of many who ensure that our learners experience quality education and world-class customer service – hallmarks of the Co-operative University of Kenya.

The University continues to expand its Certificate, Diploma, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate programmes, each designed with industry needs in mind and supported by state-of-the-art facilities and qualified faculty. These programmes provide learners with not only academic content but also practical competencies aligned to the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and the realities of a rapidly evolving economy.

At CUK, we quench intellectual thirst, discover and appreciate learners’ potential, and nurture talents for the creative economy. Our graduates are equipped with innovative and entrepreneurial approaches to life, enabling them to thrive in dynamic contexts while making meaningful contributions to society.

As a leading University, we remain proud of our academic excellence, cooperative values, and contributions to community empowerment. For every ambitious person seeking to challenge themselves, discover knowledge, and make a tangible difference in life, community, and the world, The Co-operative University of Kenya is your destination of choice.

I warmly welcome you to join us at CUK and be part of our transformative journey.

Prof. Kamau Ngamau, PhD, EBS.
