VICE CHANCELLOR’S MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCE FOR THE LATE MR. STANLEY MUCHIRI
The Co-operative University of Kenya learnt the demise of Mr. Stanley Muchiri which occurred on 6th October, 2018 in Abuja, Nigeria with great shock. Mr. Muchiri had just handed over the presidency of the ICA Africa. The death of Mr. Muchiri has left a huge gap in the Co-operative movement across the World having served the movement, locally, regionally, and Internationally in different capacities for several years. On behalf of The Co-operative University Kenya’s University Council, the Management Board, The University Senate, The Staff and Students I take this opportunity to send our deepest expressions of sympathy to Muchiri’s family, the co-operative Movement in Kenya, Africa and across the world.
To the Co-operative University Kenya, we are greatly indebted to the contribution Mr. Muchiri has made to this institution. Having been one of the pioneer in-service students of CUK and an alumni we pay tribute to the indelible mark on the various development projects he initiated not to mention his role in transforming The Co-operative University of Kenya from a department at the Ministry of Co-operatives then, to a Chartered Public University and among the few Co-operative Universities in the World. Prior to his demise, Mr. Muchiri served as the University’s iconic Kshs. 3.6B Learning Resource Center (LRC) first Patron; a project he was so ambitious to see its completion.
For a long time, the late Muchiri remained energetic and eager to work and bring in new ideas to our young University; he remained determined to be part of history of The Co-operative University of Kenya which without any iota of doubt he is.
At this painful moment, may the passing on of Mr. Muchiri remind us of the journey that we are all travelling; Let us reflect on the lives we live every day and whom we live and share our lives with at all time.
Our hope and prayer is that the Almighty God gives his family the strength and courage to overcome their grief.
MAY THE SOUL OF MR. MUCHIRI REST IN ETERNAL PEACE
Prof. Kamau Ngamau
