INTRODUCTION TO ELICIT: AN AI TOOL TO SUPPORT YOUR LITERATURE REVIEW

Elicit is an AI-powered research assistant that supports literature review. Elicit’s integration with Semantic Scholar’s database of 125 million academic papers allows you to quickly identify the top papers on your topic. Semantic Scholar is a free, AI-powered research tool for scientific literature. Elicit’s key feature is the ability to extract text, summarize takeaways from the paper, and present the content in a research matrix. How do I use Elicit? Sign in/Sign Up Key in your question (be as specific as possible) This will give you the top papers (4 if using the free version) on the topic and summarize the content in a customizable table Extracting data from PDFs Click on Extract data  and upload the papers you want to query Select the part of the papers you want data extracted from the column labeled Manage Columns (Eg Summary or Methodology) You can add more than one section. Access to Ebrary/Proquest e-books

This is a reminder that we have access to Ebrary/Proquest e-books.  Proquest is a rich database of up-to-date e-books that cover various disciplines. Students need to register on RemoteXs in in order to access Ebrary books and other online resources. Unlike other databases, Proquest requires one to create a personal account to facilitate downloading of books and use of other features such as creation of a virtual bookshelf. How do I create my Google Scholar Profile? Home/Library News, University News/How do I create my Google Scholar Profile? A Google Scholar profile is a very simple way of collating your publications and citations to them so that others can find your work. Step 1: Creating your basic profile Log on to scholar.google.com and click the “My Profile” link at the top of the page to get your account setup started. On the first screen, add your affiliation information and university email address, so Google Scholar can confirm your account. In the home page field, you can paste the link to your departmental faculty profile or the CUK home page link Step 2: Adding your publications Google Scholar will provide a list of publications it thinks belong to you. Read through the list and select the ones you have authored by checking the box. Click on the blue shaded arrow at the top right corner of the page Step 3: Settings Choose the option of either “Applying article updates automatically” or “Email me updates for review”. I do not recommend the first option especially if your name is shared by many people Congratulations! You now have a Google Scholar Profile Step: Getting back to your profile Log in to your email Open Google Scholar Click on My Profile at the top right corner of the page
