Cuk Celebrates 2nd Anniversary

VC CALLS ON DISCIPLINE AS CUK CELEBRATES 2ND ANNIVERSARY The Co-operative University of Kenya has celebrated its 2nd Anniversary since the award of a University Charter in October 2016. The function celebrated in a high note Intervarsity Christian Fellowship and Interdenominational Church Service on Sunday 11th November, 2018 brought together University community led by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Kamau Ngamau. Addressing the staff and students at the University’s Main Campus, the Vice Chancellor thanked the university staff, students and stakeholders for their dedication and teamwork towards building a reputable University. He noted that since the award of a University Charter, CUK had attracted a high number of students pursuing various programmes at the University. Down the memory lane, the VC noted that, “We are gathered here today as a people of God to thank Him for the Good he has granted us as a University and to celebrate our 2nd Anniversary since award of a University Charter in 2016. Those who know the journey we travelled to get a University Charter, have a clear picture how bumpy the road was. Tough as it was, by the Grace of God we managed.” Prof. Ngamau asked the CUK students to step up to challenges facing the world and especially the youth and remain strong moral champions the world can emulate while routing for strong moral education starting in families, “It is incumbent upon all of us especially, we the community that is at a higher institution of learning to lead by example. We cannot afford to bury our heads in the sand and not follow the example of Christ the Good Shepherd. As you step out and start families, let your families be the first Church. Moral decadence starts from families; a strong family with moral and Christian values means sane communities and nations. Let charity begin within us and in our homes.” Others who attended the function included the University’s Management Board’ Registrar Academic Affairs David Otiende, Deputy Registrar CDRI Dr. Lydia Mutua among others.

Condolence for the Late Mr. Stanley Muchiri

VICE CHANCELLOR’S MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCE FOR THE LATE MR. STANLEY MUCHIRI The Co-operative University of Kenya learnt the demise of Mr. Stanley Muchiri which occurred on 6th October, 2018 in Abuja, Nigeria with great shock. Mr. Muchiri had just handed over the presidency of the ICA Africa. The death of Mr. Muchiri has left a huge gap in the Co-operative movement across the World having served the movement, locally, regionally, and Internationally in different capacities for several years. On behalf of The Co-operative University Kenya’s University Council, the Management Board, The University Senate, The Staff and Students I take this opportunity to send our deepest expressions of sympathy to Muchiri’s family, the co-operative Movement in Kenya, Africa and across the world. To the Co-operative University Kenya, we are greatly indebted to the contribution Mr. Muchiri has made to this institution. Having been one of the pioneer in-service students of CUK and an alumni we pay tribute to the indelible mark on the various development projects he initiated not to mention his role in transforming The Co-operative University of Kenya from a department at the Ministry of Co-operatives then, to a Chartered Public University and among the few Co-operative Universities in the World. Prior to his demise, Mr. Muchiri served as the University’s iconic Kshs. 3.6B Learning Resource Center (LRC) first Patron; a project he was so ambitious to see its completion. For a long time, the late Muchiri remained energetic and eager to work and bring in new ideas to our young University; he remained determined to be part of history of The Co-operative University of Kenya which without any iota of doubt he is. At this painful moment, may the passing on of Mr. Muchiri remind us of the journey that we are all travelling; Let us reflect on the lives we live every day and whom we live and share our lives with at all time. Our hope and prayer is that the Almighty God gives his family the strength and courage to overcome their grief. MAY THE SOUL OF MR. MUCHIRI REST IN ETERNAL PEACE   Prof. Kamau Ngamau  VICE CHANCELLOR
