Role at the University

Prof. Kamau Ngamau is the Vice-Chancellor of The Co-operative University of Kenya. He previously served as Ag. Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Affairs at the University, and before that as Deputy Principal, Academic Affairs of the former Co-operative University College of Kenya. He is a Professor of Horticulture at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).

Academic career

Prof. Ngamau served in various capacities at JKUAT, rising through the ranks from Assistant Lecturer in 1993 to Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor and Professor in 2013. Administratively, he held the positions of Chair of the Horticulture Department, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, and Director of the Board of Postgraduate Studies, among other responsibilities.

Research and scholarship

He is a recognised research scientist and consultant in horticulture, with numerous publications in internationally refereed journals. He has successfully supervised many undergraduate, Master’s and PhD students, and has presented seminar papers at local and international workshops and conferences, both in his area of expertise and on cross-cutting issues in higher education.
