The 24th of June 2022 was a special day for The Co-operative University of Kenya as the prestigious University launched her ambitious 2022-2027 strategic plan that will pilot the University’s growth trajectory for the next five years.

Ribbon Cutting by, Mr. Fredrick Ndambuki (Secretary Administration, Ministry of Education)

This was the long-awaited day since the whole CUK fraternity was eager to witness the launch and know how the University had been fairing,  in the last 5 years. The Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Education, Professor George Magoha,  represented by Mr. Frederick Ndambuki, Secretary of Administration, Ministry of Education, was the chief guest who  crowned the event and I must say that, this was indeed a day to remember.

After the Charter award, the 2022-2027 strategic plan is the second university’s strategic plan, having been developed with the involvement of various stakeholders. It is with no doubt,  that the stakeholders burned the midnight oil to make sure that the Strategic Plan is one to raise the University to greater heights.

The plan is anchored on a new motto, “Empowering Communities”. A motto that will breathe new life and zeal towards the realization of the University mandate and the general contribution to the overall well-being of the community and country at large. Similarly, the University’s vision going into this new strategic plan period has also been reviewed and expanded accordingly to “A University of excellence in education, research, innovation, and cooperative training”. Consequently, the University’s mission, going into this new SP period will be “To produce competent human capital through quality education, training, research & innovation and empower communities through outreach for socio-economic transformation”.

The guest of honor Prof George Magoha represented by the ministry’s secretariat, Mr. Fred Ndambuki, congratulated the University’s management for its good work in maintaining the universities’ funds and the projects the university had managed to achieve within the concluded Strategic Plan Cycle. In addition, he urged the University’s management to continue with its good work and promised continuous support from the Ministry of  Education.

In the same line, The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Kamau Ngamau lauded the whole CUK fraternity for their hard work, unity, and determination that they put in, in the execution of the just concluded strategic plan and encouraged everyone present, to do their parts and work in unison so as to ensure that the  University delivers on this amazing strategic plan.

To crown it all, Mr. Fred Ndambuki urged everyone to maintain peace and order, especially during this electioneering period.

“I urge all of us to ensure we exercise our democratic right accordingly and ensure we maintain peace throughout the electioneering period.” Mr. Fred Ndambuki said.
